Superintendent Search

The Lake Orion Community Schools Board of Education has launched a search for a new school superintendent following the March announcement of Ben Kirby's departure for Forest Hills Public Schools.

On April 29, the Board selected the Michigan Association of School Boards as the firm to lead the search for a permanent superintendent.

Ben Kirby will complete the 2023-24 school year and his last day in LOCS is scheduled to be June 30, 2024.

  • April 29 LOCS Board of Education special meeting where the Board selected Michigan Association of School Boards as its Superintendent Search firm. 
  • April 4 Request For Proposals Issued 
  • April 3 LOCS Board of Education special meeting where the Request for Proposal to hire a Superintendent search firm was be presented and approved.
  • March 21 LOCS Board of Education special meeting to discuss Superintendent Search next steps
  • March 20 LOCS Board of Education announces anticipated departure of Ben Kirby, opening of Superintendent Search process
