LOCS expands in-person learning schedule on March 8

LOCS expands in-person learning schedule on March 8

Lake Orion Community Schools will expand its in-person instructional time for elementary, middle and Pine Tree Center students, beginning March 8, 2021.

The LOCS Administration, led by Superintendent Ben Kirby, made the recommendation to the updates in the COVID-19 academic plan and it was approved by the LOCS Board of Education at the February 24 virtual meeting.

The success in COVID-19 mitigation strategies within our schools, the consistently stable or decreasing positive cases counts, observations of other school districts' extended in-person hours and the community and staff feedback in a recent feedback tool, all played a role in Mr. Kirby's decision to move towards a more traditional school setting at most levels.

The high schools will remain in the current hybrid format for at least the third quarter, which concludes in early April.

Each level and program has unique considerations and the district is treating them as such, with schedules and protocols appropriate to their age group and learning plan. Highlights on each are listed below and the updated bell times can be found on the LOCS website.
