iPad support (Grades K-2)

We are offering iPad curbside support to families this week (September 9-11, 2020), from 12:30-5 p.m. at the Community Education Resource Center, 455 E Scripps Rd, Door #20 (at the south end of the building, near Scripps Road.)

Please create an account (https://servicedesk.oakland.k12.mi.us/servicedesk/customer/user/signup) and enter a ticket (https://servicedesk.oakland.k12.mi.us/secure/Dashboard.jspa) to coordinate a time. We will provide a cell phone number for the family to call upon arrival.

Families are permitted to set up their own Apple ID and download additional apps.

  • iPad SeeSaw issues: Parents should create an account in the ticketing system and submit a ticket, so Technology has a way to contact them directly to offer and coordinate support.

    Possible problems (repairs below)

  1. App not launching with message “restrictions are in place” (app is locked- cannot delete or open):
    1. Technology must reinstall the app -- curbside support required.
  2. App has disappeared (choose one option)
    1. District can re-install the app remotely
    2. Bring iPad in District for curbside support
    3. Set up personal Apple ID on iPad, sign in to App Store and download SeeSaw
  3. App is grayed out with message “waiting” after several hours connected to Wi-Fi:
    1. Technology must reinstall the app -- curbside support required

  • iPad Zoom issues: Parents should submit a ticket, so technology has a way to contact them directly to offer and coordinate support.

    Possible problems (repairs below)

  1. Zoom app is not installed (choose one option)
    1. District can re-install the app remotely
    2. Bring iPad in District for curbside support
    3. Family can set up personal Apple ID on iPad, sign into App Store and download Zoom
  2. Zoom App is grayed out with message “waiting” after several hours connected to Wi-Fi:

Laptops (Grades 3-5)

            Possible problems (repairs below)

1.    Auto-logon – The laptop should automatically boot to the desktop and not ask you to log in. If you close the lid without shutting down, the laptop may lock and prompt for a username and password. If that happens, please attempt these steps, in order:

a.    Restart the laptop

b.    Shut down the laptop for 10-15 minutes, then power back on.

c.     Select “other user” in the lower left corner and type in the username, LKO.CA1 with password Ca123456

Zoom Tips

Students should continue to click on links in SeeSaw as they have before. In this example, we will be using https://us02web.zoom.us/s/4091433485#success

When students click on the teacher’s link, they should be taken to a screen like this.

After clicking “Join meeting as an attendee,” the students will be faced with several options. They can choose to open Zoom Meetings when they encounter a popup when the site first loads. They may also choose launch meeting, or download and run Zoom.

The goal is to reach the following screen.

  • Students will need to change their name from the default (lko.ca1) to whichever name they go by in the class
  • The teacher will then provide a Meeting Passcode in SeeSaw, which the student can then enter and join the meeting.

If these steps do not resolve the issues, please contact the Technology Department via email at osservicedesk@oakland.k12.mi.us or with an online ticket submission/live chat: Create service ticket.
