On February 8, students from Oakview, Scripps, and Waldon Middle Schools met at Oakview for the Lake Orion Community Middle Schools and Orion Township Public Library's 2019 Battle of the Books.

Teams comprised of three to six students competed to answer trivia questions about seven novels selected to showcase a variety of genres and reading levels.

Each team utilized a laptop to answer their questions in Nearpod, where questions were timed and in short answer, multiple choice, and true/false format.

Students also showcased their love of reading through creative book themed costumes and team names.

This year's winners were Oakview's returning champions, Clash of the Characters, in first place, The Cliff Hangers in second place, and Character Crushers in third place.

The competition seeks to highlight not only individual accomplishments, but also a sense of working together as a building.

The building with the highest average points per team, winning the School trophy, was Waldon.

All of the schools are immensely proud of all of their teams and were excited to share in this celebration of reading accomplishments.
