Public Notice – Confirmed and Probable Cases

All positive COVID-19 cases among Lake Orion Community Schools staff and students will be posted here. In accordance with the LOCS plan, the following actions will take place for each positive case:

  • The individual(s) in question will be quarantined from work/school until released to return by the Oakland County Health Division.
  • LOCS will work closely with the OCHD to conduct contact tracing. Those individuals who are determined to have been in close contact with the COVID-19 positive individual(s) will be personally contacted by someone from the OCHD or LOCS with additional guidance.
  • The LOCS Operations team will conduct additional cleaning of the classroom, office, bus, or other space that was occupied by the COVID-19 positive individual(s) prior to it being reopened for staff and/or students. The cleaning will be performed in accordance with United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) guidelines.  

October 28, 2020

LOCS was informed that a Lake Orion High School staff member received a positive test for COVID-19. The staff member last worked in the building on October 21, 2020.

October 27, 2020

LOCS was informed that a high school student received a positive test for COVID-19.

The student attended a boys basketball open gym on October 22 and October 24. Other students who attended the open gym were recommended to self-quarantine until the OCHD completed its contact tracing.

October 23, 2020

LOCS was informed that two students from the same household, one in a Special Education classroom and one competing as an athlete, received positive tests for COVID-19.

The student in a Special Education classroom attended on October 12-13 but had not returned to the classroom between then and the positive test result on October 22. The athlete has not interacted with the team since October 15.

October 12, 2020

Today, LOCS was informed that a student in a morning session Early Childhood Special Education classroom has tested positive for COVID-19. This student was in attendance selected days during the week of October 5.

Including the confirmed case described above, since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, LOCS has been informed by the Oakland County Health Division of eight total positive school-associated cases of COVID-19 this year. That total is amongst students, teachers, staff members, volunteers, or any other person who was present on school property or at a school function under circumstances that may result in the transmission or contraction of COVID-19 during their infectious period.
