The Scripps Media Center is thrilled to kick off our March is Reading Month activities starting on March 1st!
Students may read in the media center before school or during lunches for ten minute intervals to enter their names into different weekly gift card drawings. There are gift cards for the book fair, Starbucks, Second and Charles Used Bookstore, and local business 20 Front Street generously donated gift cards to their coffee and ice cream shop. The first drawing will be March 8th.
Students can also enter the gift card drawings by drawing a picture of their favorite book cover in the media center and sticking it on their locker with the magnets Ms. Lowe provides in the media center.
Another way to enter the drawings is to make a Flipgrid book commercial! Flipgrid is a free app where students find their classroom video board and record a video introducing their favorite book title, author, and why they liked it. Once the video is approved, students at Scripps, Oakview, and Waldon will be able to use this platform to share book recommendations across the schools! If your child would like to participate in using Flipgrid, please fill out the attached consent form and have your child turn it in to Ms. Lowe in the media center.
Finally, the media center will draw student names on Fridays to win a free book.
The Scripps Media Center is excited to share our love of reading and look forward to the students joining us for these exciting activities!
