John holds a Bachelor's Degree (BSA) majoring in Finance & Economics from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science in Finance (MSF) Degree with a Corporate Accounting concentration from the Walsh College of Accountancy and Business Administration.

A Certified Management Accountant (CMA), a Certified Financial Manager (CFM), and a certified Chief Financial Officer (CFO) through the Michigan School Business Officials, John spent several years working in the manufacturing and banking industries before getting involved in public education.

He has 20-plus years of accounting, finance and business operations experience in public education. Positions held include serving as the Director of Business Services for Rochester Community Schools, the Director of Financial Services for Oakland Schools and currently as the Assistant Superintendent of Business & Finance for Lake Orion Community Schools.

John is a member of multiple organizations including the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), the Michigan Schools Business Officials (MSBO), the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and past president of the Oakland County Schools Business Officials (OCSBO). John currently serves as the Chairman of the Michigan Liquid Assets Fund (MILAF+), a Michigan local government investment pool.

John was named the 2018-19 OCSBO Oakland County Business Administrator of the Year for his outstanding contributions to education.
