Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources
This marks Rick Arnett’s 11th year as a Human Resources Administrator. Prior to coming to Lake Orion, Rick served as the Deputy Superintendent for Human Resources with West Bloomfield Schools and spent time as the Executive Director of Human Resources at Monroe Public Schools. Rick served eight years as a high school principal, three years as an assistant principal, and taught special education before moving to administration.
During Rick’s time as an HR Administrator, he has been active and involved at the local, state, and national levels. He has served for the past eight years on the Michigan Association of School Personal Administrators Executive Board as a Trustee, Secretary, President Elect, and President. Rick has also served for the past six years as a member of the American Association of School Personnel Administrators (AASPA) Executive Board. He spent three years as a Regional Representative, a year as President Elect, President and is currently the Past President of AASPA. In addition to the state and national levels of involvement Rick has also been very active with the Oakland County group OASPA, as well as the Council of Chief Negotiators, a division of the Metro Bureau.
Rick has presented professional development seminars at the local, state and national levels and frequently presents at AASPA Bootcamps around the country, targeting individuals new to public education HR roles.
Rick and his wife Tracy are Lake Orion residents and have two adult children. Andrew who is a graduate of the University of Dayton and works as a Solar Engineer in the state of Washington. Amanda is currently in graduate school at Ball State University working on her Master’s degree in speech and language pathologist.
