GAP/Afterschool activities

GAP Programs

What is GAP?

GAP stands for Guided Afterschool Programs. Accordingly, GAP was created to provide positive afterschool leisure and recreation activities. The goal is to provide something for every student and to help fill the "gap" between afterschool and home.

GAP Activities are broken down into the following categories:

  • Active/Sports Based
  • Arts/ Music
  • Community Involvement/ Service
  • Cultural Awareness
  • Education Classes & Clinics
  • Hobbies
  • Teambuilding/Self Esteem Development
  • Technology

GAP Fees

There is a GAP fee for High School and Middle School students, which varies based on the activity. Students may participate in multiple activities. A hardship fee is available to help families who cannot afford the GAP Fee. Specific qualifications are required to be met. If you feel you may qualify, please contact the GAP Office.

Payment for activities will be made through PaySchools, which is the District's program that allows you to make school-related payments online via e-check or credit card at your convenience. Students will need to pay GAP fees before participation in GAP activities.

Registration

A full listing of activities will be available on the GAP webpages on the websites for each of the middle schools and at the high school. Activity information sheets, as well as sign-up sheets and entry forms will also be available in the Dragon GAP Office at Lake Orion High School and in the main offices at Waldon, Scripps, and Oakview Middle Schools. The main GAP office is now housed in the Community Enrichment Office located in the Community Education and Resource Center (CERC).

GAP seeks to provide "something for everyone".
