For the 2026-2027 school year, Lake Orion Community Schools will again be participating in the Michigan Meals program which entitles all students, regardless of income, to one free breakfast, and one free lunch per day. 

To be given consideration for reduced fees (pay to play, holiday assistance etc.) parents must complete the Education and Nutrition Benefits Application to determine if the student is eligible for these benefits.

1. Prepay for second entrees or a la carte items online using a credit or debit card at the online portal.  
2. There is a $2.95 convenience fee for every $100 deposited.  Parents can access this site to check balances and meal purchases at any time. Food Service does not accept personal checks
3. Cash deposits can be made at the secondary level.

Be sure to apply for Free and Reduced Benefits online at the lakeorion.familyportal.cloud. Eligibility for other programs (including P-EBT) are based on Free and Reduced status but you MUST complete a “Sharing Permissions” form for the information to be shared with specified program.  You must apply for the Free/Reduced benefit every school year.  Complete one application per household. You will be notified by email if you qualify.

If you qualified for a free or reduced-price meal last year, we will use last year’s eligibility for the first 30 operating days.

Please Note: We highly encourage all families to fill out this form. Many of the supplemental grants and federal aid our school district receives are based on the total approved free and reduced meal applications. These funds enhance the educational opportunities of our students.

Sharing Information Form (fillable)

1. Families who qualify for free and reduced meal programs may also be eligible for reduced athletic fees, computer fees, holiday assistance programs, and our Blessings in a Backpack program to name a few, however, they must fill out the application for free and reduced price meals, and select the “shared permissions” tab which allows the food service department to share the necessary information with selected programs.
2. Applying for the free and reduced price meal program is extremely important for the students of our district. The amount of money that our school receives from a variety of State and Federal supplemental programs like Title I A, At-risk (31a), Title II A, E-Rate, etc is determined by the number of families that qualify for free and reduced meals. This data is based on information collected from those families that qualify for the free and reduced price meals based on the results of the completed application.

These supplemental programs have the potential to offer supports and services for our students including, but not limited to:

Instructional supports (staff, supplies & materials, etc.)

1. Non-instructional services (counseling, social work, health services, etc.) 
2. Professional Learning for staff
3. Parent and Community engagement supplies and activities
4. Technology
