Registration Information

Enrollment process

Lake Orion Community Schools Technology Department has arranged a process for purchasing insurance coverage on the LOCS student’s computing device.

Simply go to my.safeware.com using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox as your browser. Then, after entering all the requested information, including an updated credit card, a family will be asked to hit “Submit” one time.

Please only hit the submit link once. If you hit this button more than once your credit card will be charged more than once.

Portal is open: August 27-September 30, 2020 (Registration occurs remotely after receiving device at orientation.)

Insurance is available for all LOCS-supplied devices, but is optional for families to purchase.

The online log-in process will occur remotely, after the family receives the device at next week's orientation days. There will be no payment on site at the school.

If families opt out of insurance, they are responsible for the full repair/replacement cost of any device issued to their student(s) that is damaged, lost or stolen.

LOCS will be notified of all devices enrolled in the insurance program.

Notes

  • The fee covers the device for the entire school year with a $0 deductible.
  • The costs vary on the Grades 3-5 devices based on the features of each device. Those students will not know which device they receive until picking it up at orientation.

 

Device Serial Numbers

As part of the enrollment process, families will be asked to submit the serial number of the LOCS-supplied device. Families must have the serial number before entering the registration process.

On iPads: the serial numbers can be found on the bottom of the home screen when you power on the device or on the sticker on the back of the device.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I get a policy for my child?
    • Families are enrolling in group coverage, not individual coverage. Families will need to contact the student's school for instructions. Because these portals are for school group policies and each program is different, we aren’t the best source of information on how to get coverage.
  • What website do I go to for insurance for my child?
    • The website for DK-12 and Post-Secondary student enrollment is my.safeware.com. Check the enrollment form received from the school for specific login information. Each student's school can provide this information.
  • I misspelled my child’s name/I put the wrong serial number in. How do I fix this?
    • If a family enrolled with an incorrect serial number or a misspelled student name, please email service1@safeware.com with:
      • the school name
      • school district name
      • state 
      • amount of premium requested on the portal
      • corrected student name/serial number

The same rule applies if a family did not enter a name or serial number at all. Safeware will correct these issues on its end and make the LOCS Technology Department aware.

  • I have more than one child in the same school technology program? Do I only enroll once?
    • If a family has more than one child to enroll, the family will need to do so one at a time and be charged for each enrollment. The family will also receive an email confirmation for each enrollment.
  • I got more than one enrollment confirmation email for the same child. Can I get a refund?
    • If the family receives more than one email confirmation or if has duplicate enrollments, please send us an email with the school name, school district name, state and amount of premium requested on the portal as well as student name and serial number to service1@safeware.com. Safeware will contact the family as soon as Safeware can to inform the family of its refund(s) and make the LOCS Technology Department aware of the duplicate(s).
  • I can’t log in. Is the username or password wrong or is the site broken?
    • *Safeware strongly recommends emailing service1@safeware.com for support and electronic tracking, or parents can also call 1-800-800-1492. Safeware is experiencing higher than normal emails and phone calls for support.
  • What will happen to my policy when LOCS upgrades my current Dell device and parents swap the older Dell laptop for a newer HP model when they become available (the policy cost is different)? 
    • The LOCS Technology Department will contact Safeware to update the serial number on the family account. The district will be charged the difference in policy cost.
  • What if I receive a message stating "invalid account number" when trying to submit payment?
    • The data entered for payment does not match.  Parents should log out, close the browser, and try again.
  • What if I am not receiving email confirmation after enrolling?
    • Parents should make sure they are using Chrome, Firefox, or Safari browsers.  If a parent hit the back button at any time during enrollment, it could cause the session to log out and the parent should restart the process.  Parents should email service1@safeware.com for additional support or for confirmation that they are enrolled.
