Students have access to a robust selection of AP classes and take AP exams in over 25 subject areas.

Majority of faculty have master’s degrees or higher. All teachers are considered "highly qualified" by the Michigan Department of Education.

Students can earn college credit through AP exams, dual enrollment, and CTE courses—saving time and money while exploring both academic and career-focused pathways.

The school is adjacent to Bald Mountain State Recreation Area, providing opportunities for unique student experiences in Physical Education, Science, Experiential Education, and Athletics programs. High ropes course on the high school premises for team-building and physical activity.

All students complete a minimum 20 service hours to integrate community involvement with education and curriculum.

The Learning Center is a technologically advanced space that supports the diverse learning needs of all students.

LOHS has a vibrant Fine and Performing Arts Department, including courses in Communication Arts, Musical Arts, Theatrical Arts, and Visual Arts.

The MTSS program has successfully helped students with targeted Tier-2 interventions. By using MySAEBRS, STAR Math, and STAR Reading, along with grade, attendance, and behavioral data, the MTSS team is able to implement directed strategies to help students be successful in their classes.

Sources of Strength program empowers over 120 trained student leaders to promote hope, resilience, help-seeking, and belonging through student-led, strength-based mental health initiatives supported by adult advisors.

Post-Secondary Outcomes
- Our current graduating class rate is over 97% and more than 96% attend post-secondary education, enlist in the military, or attend a vocational trade school after graduation, earning millions in scholarships on an annual basis, including full academic and athletic scholarships.
- The strong support from our local community is highlighted on Honors Night when local scholarships are awarded. Close to $75,000 in local scholarships was given to our graduating seniors, reflecting a meaningful investment in their futures and achievements.

Over 70 and counting extracurricular clubs and activities offered, including competitive marching band, student-produced dramatic Thespians productions, FIRST Robotics Team 302, diversity-oriented clubs, multiple honor societies, recreational clubs, and academic clubs in every subject area.
