Welcome letter
Welcome to Lake Orion High School – “Home of the Dragons”. As the sign reads as you enter the building, “Through these halls walk the finest students in the nation.” Lake Orion High School (LOHS) has over 2,100 students who meld their rich experiences, diversity, ambitions, and voice into the culture of the building.
LOHS offers an immense amount of choice within course offerings, clubs, activities, and after school pursuits. Diverse curriculum offerings include a large catalog of advanced placement (AP) courses, an early middle college program, access to STEM programs, and real-world career opportunities through work studies. Our rigorous graduation standards for both academic and service-learning result in graduates who earn credits well above the state mandate and service-learning hours that directly give back to our Dragon Community.
Students at LOHS are encouraged to participate and explore an ever-growing extra-curricular program that includes 30+ varsity level athletic teams and countless clubs that allow students to work on their passions, while growing their interests. As a group of Dragons are referred to as a “Thunder”, we in Lake Orion “Protect the Thunder”. This is seen through the leadership of our students, dedication of our instructional and support staff, the involvement and support of our families, and the never-ending pursuit of all stakeholders to make LOHS an elite high school for our students and community.
I invite you to use our website to explore all that Lake Orion High School has to offer. Go Dragons! Protect the Thunder!
Sincerely,
Daniel T. Haas, Ph.D.
