Flexible Schedule Option

LOHS Traditional Schedule

LOHS Flexible Schedule

  • On late-start Wednesdays, students with a Flexible (5th period) Schedule will attend school during normal hours (9:40 a.m.-2:35 p.m.)

Flexible Schedule Option

High school students benefit from school-schedule flexibility, evidenced in the well-documented concept that many teenagers succeed when their school day begins later.

In order to offer additional flexibility to our students, LOHS will present a new flexible class-schedule option in the 2020-2021 school year.

Process

Eligible students choose to delay the start of most “regular” school days until approximately 9 a.m. (missing the normal first class period.)

Fifth period course will be held from approximately 2:40 p.m. until shortly after 4 p.m.

Features/Specifics

  • Same total amount of school time as all other students, trading first period for fifth period
  • Certain available courses
  • Students in Grades 11-12
  • No busing
  • Students with a Flexible (5th period) Schedule will attend school during normal hours on Wednesday: 9:40 a.m.-2:35 p.m.

Registration

  • During February scheduling process, class options selected on course selection sheet
  • Option to select specific term or semester
