NJHS

Oakview’s National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a group of Oakview students who have been selected based upon their excellence in citizenship and academics. Students can become active members of NJHS in their eighth grade year. NJHS members participate in community service and social activities within the community.

Invitations to be considered for membership are sent out in early May to all eligible 7th graders.

In order to be considered for NJHS, 7th grade students must maintain a 3.5 GPA throughout the year and meet the citizenship requirements, of which they are not allowed to receive more than one average citizenship.  If they meet those requirements, they are invited to go through the application process and the teacher review, in which all of the student’s core and elective teachers rate the student based upon their engagement, character, and performance in their classrooms.  This allows for us to get a good overview of the student as whole, and insure that the highest quality of students are inducted into our organization.

Upon induction into the organization, students will be required to maintain these standards in addition to completing 25 hours of community service. Members will also be required to attend meetings during STAR occasionally.
